Position Overview

Essential Job Duties
The purpose of this postdoc is to develop bacterial strains that can express milligram quantities of formate dehydrogenase and carbonic anhydrase for a collaborative project focusing on the immobilization of these gas-converting enzymes on surfaces for carbon dioxide remediation purposes. Additionally, the competitive candidate will be involved in work to metabolically engineer E. coli to convert the produced formate into value-added products.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct metabolic engineering experiments in M. extorquens and E. coli
  • Molecular cloning
  • Sequencing
  • Design of experiments
  • Draft figures, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Apply for funding
Other Work/Responsibilities
  • Maintain professionalism with colleagues
  • Contribute to lab cleanliness
  • Interact with group during group meetings
