Logistics Planner - US - Apex, NC

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

The Logistics Planner will serve as the planner of Distribution. Key focus will be on order/inventory strategy and movement to effectively plan, control, maintain, and monitor the daily Logistics operation to ensure a high-level of operational efficiency, on time delivery of shipments, and customer satisfaction.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Participates in creation of monthly and weekly DC master planning and daily execution meetings.
  • Directs the daily outbound wave planning according to the priorities of the DC for service and capacity management.
  • Collaborates with Operations Manager on capacity planning/staffing levels.
  • Directs service operations team members to critical functions that will ensure completion of daily, weekly, and long-term objectives that directly improve service.
  • Accountable to complete root cause process for service failures and compilation of action plan for prevention of future failures.
  • Accountable for oversight of bin stock levels and proper setups to enable proper flow of product for outbound execution.
  • Make plans and schedules service operations team members to provide adequate coverage across shipping window in the DC.
  • Assigns or reassigns tasks to associates as needed based on work priorities within the department, focusing on service and quality of work.
  • Works and communicates effectively with all company team members (Distribution Center, Customer Service, Supply Planning, etc.) to deliver expected results.
  • Must be able to use root-cause problem solving techniques to resolve operational issues.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Engineering or Supply Chain discipline required or 10 years of experience in an Operations planning role accepted in lieu of education.
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy; High standards for quality work and workplace.
  • Self-directed, task oriented and flexible. Excellent organizational and regulation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solve and develop ideas and suggestions for process improvements.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of PC including Windows XP, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. WMS, AS400 experience preferred. SQL capabilities preferred
  • Knowledge of Distribution Operations to include inventory movement strategies, planning strategies and operational efficiency is highly preferred.
  • Training and/or previous experience with automated and/or RF systems
  • Critical thinking ability required to assess data and performance trends for opportunities and/or improvement.
