Mission

Hitachi Energy North America is seeking an expert in the Utility segment/market to lead the marked-based approach (solution roadmap, value propositions, industry network, policy makers, partnerships, key customer relationships and other stakeholders), collaborate with sales front end, business units and marketing to ensure a cohesive market approach and commitment to continued growth and market leadership of utility related solutions. This position will represent the company externally through senior level exposure at industry events (IEEE, Cigre...), influencing market direction and drive internally through educating, informing, and soliciting of support for Hitachi Energy to create new solutions and maximize sales potential in the utility segment; for both Transmission and Distribution segments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure, in close cooperation with the global Utility strategy, that the North America region develops and maintains a strategic plan across all Hitachi Energy business units and segments to develop new solutions, deliver growth and new revenue streams (revenue targets, profitability targets, project plans)
  • Represents Hitachi Energy through high profile board appointments, speaking engagements, industry networks, etc.
  • Become a subject matter expert on how Utilities plan and operate their networks and the benefits Grid technologies bring in terms of stability, reliability, flexibility and resiliency.
  • Lead the Hitachi Energy participation and thought leadership in industry trade shows and events in the region.
  • As a recognized expert and "thought leader" in the utility segment, this position will influence the regulatory and policy environment through associations and organizations based upon a combination of education and professional experience.
  • Ensuring the value proposition for the target segment is developed and well communicated to all stakeholders, supporting the development and achievement of standards through a clear definition and regular oversight.
  • Works closely with the country sales leadership teams, Business Units products and portfolio management and with the global market innovation network; giving appropriate feedback on market developments and requirements, supporting the achievement of sales volume and targets.
  • Building and maintaining a strong relationship at senior levels with key customers, policy makers, stakeholders, and decision makers, to ensure an effective communication on the segment.
  • Engage and contribute to annual market validation, outlook and global budget target setting process.
  • Ensure the swift adoption and integration of Hitachi Energy offering into solutions and promote as the face of North America in person, in white papers and using digital marketing platforms.
  • Benchmark, monitor and share with the businesses the competitive landscape as well as opportunities for partnering with key OEM's, channels, or service providers.
  • Further develop Hitachi Energy's ability to deliver new business models by understanding customer value drivers and how to educate, advise and capture and capture value. Be able to document and share tangible results in areas like innovation and creation, market definition, roadmap development, partnering, product launches, successful projects completed and areas of collaboration within Hitachi Energy

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

Experience of 15+ years in the utility industry (ideally both T and D) dealing with creation of customer solutions, senior level customer engagement and recognized as an expert in the field.

Strong commercial expertise and communication skills.

Exceptional understanding and insight of the Utility segment (on both transmission and distribution) in North America.

Possesses a broad and deep network within the Utility segment composed of industry professionals, customers, policy makers (country specific and state levels) and other market players.

Proven success in bringing together appropriate team members across an organization for exploration and pursuit of complex new opportunities.

Disciplined in process to show and report updates as well as educating stakeholder on progress, while soliciting inputs.

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related disciplines. Master's degree preferred.

Expected travel needs up to 50%, including some international travel.
