Position Summary
The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Department of Pediatrics invites applications for a full-time, fixed term Child and Adolescent Psychologist. The psychologist role will include direct clinical care in the following capacities: functioning as a core member of a multidisciplinary team providing behavioral health to children and adolescents within the North Carolina Bladen County school setting. The care for children and adolescents will be conducted with mental health clinicians embedded in the schools and utilizing virtual care technology to incorporate the expertise of leading specialists in child and adolescent psychiatry, pharmacy, and other pediatric specialties from UNC-Chapel Hill. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, a community health worker, a pharmacist, and a child and adolescent psychiatrist. Clinical providers will provide diagnoses and therapy for children and adolescents with conditions including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD. In this role, the psychologist will at times work with patients in high, acuity situations. The faculty member will provide direct patient care, support and supervision for master's level clinicians as well as participate in multidisciplinary meetings and support with some aspects of clinical care management.

Principal duties will include: Screen and assess patients for mental health and substance abuse disorders; Provide diagnostic testing as clinically indicated including testing for ADHD, mood disorders, and autism spectrum disorder; Provide patient education about mental health disorders and available treatment options specific to this population; Monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms using evidence-based tools and treatment side effects or complications; Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by child psychiatrist, focusing on treatment adherence, side effects and other complications, and effectiveness of treatment; Provide clinical interventions using evidence-based techniques (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Problem Solving Therapy (PST), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)) as clinically indicated; Provide evidence-based psychosocial treatments as clinically indicated; Participate in regularly scheduled (usually weekly) caseload consultation with the psychiatrist and other clinicians; Support, and closely coordinate mental health care with the other members of the team, the patients' family, the patient's primary care provider (PCP) when necessary and, when appropriate, other mental health or specialty providers; Other duties as assigned by management. The clinical psychologist will provide consultative support and supervision to our embedded master's level clinicians providing direct patient evaluation, education, monitoring, and clinical interventions.

This position is located in Bladen County, NC.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants for the psychologist position must have a doctoral degree in psychology, preferably Clinical Psychology; must be fully licensed as a psychologist in the state of North Carolina by the beginning date of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with mental health equity and experience working with underserved populations is preferred. Training and experience with models of family therapy and specialized behavioral plans. Experience working on a multidisciplinary team is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
