Position Overview

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities is where cultural and intellectual diversity meet. With majors in the sciences, humanities and the arts, the college has a culture of collaboration that encourages students to discover their own path. The mission of the Department of Language and Literature is to engage students in languages, cultures, literatures, linguistics, and writing. The department foster students’ analytical and creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication strategies that reflect awareness of global perspectives. The department offers BA degrees in English, Spanish, and Interdisciplinary Studies as well as a MA degree in English.
Primary Purpose of Position
Teach 4 sections of Spanish and/or French per semester.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; excellent research and analytical skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others; strong knowledge in language and literature or related subject matter.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master’s degree
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
M.A. in Spanish, French, and/or Romance Languages required; Ph.D. in Spanish, French, and/or Romance Languages preferred.

Function Instructional
